On October 15, 2000, the Swansea Fire Department conducted a Memorial Service to honor and remember, our departed brothers. As part of the memorial service, the department dedicated a firefighter memorial at Melvin Price Memorial Park The service and dedication was conducted Memorial Dedication Memorial Dedication with true fire department traditions, and included a bell ceremony with family members participating, and bagpipers playing Amazing Grace. The Swansea Fire Department has been fourtunate over the years to never have a line of duty death. The names on our memorial are brothers who passed Memorial Dedication Memorial Dedication away after they retired, or, while an active member. Each year during Fire Prevention Week, a red candle is lit and placed on the memorial to remeber not only our departed Swansea brothers, but all brother firefighters who have unselfishly answered the call to duty.
