The Swansea Police Department and Swansea Fire Department team up to host a youth police and fire academy annually. During the three day academy, youth participate in many activities including, crime scene processing, K-9 demonstration, dangers of drug use, SWAT team demonstration, vehicle fire demonstration, extrication by the fire department, ambulance services, and ARCH helicopter, simunition firearm exercise, St. Clair County Jail tour, Swansea Fire Department dive team speech, and St. Clair County State's Attorney speech.
