The Swansea Police Department has implemented a Special Needs Locator Program for its citizens utilized for a variety of cognitive disorders. The purpose of the program is to assist in locating an individual with a cognitive disorder who has become lost, disoriented or is unable to communicate effectively.
The program is voluntary for individuals living with, but not limited to:
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Dementia
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Parkinson's Disease
- Huntington Disease
- Cerebral Palsy
Family members can register their loved ones at the Swansea Police Department. The information is confidential and only accessible by the Swansea Police Department. The database will contain pedigree information, along with a current photograph. This photograph will be accessible to all patrol officers who encounter a lost or disoriented person.
